I recently got the opportunity to travel up to Alaska for work. In my spare time and the couple days off I was able to snap a few pics. Hope you enjoy.

Newest Member of the Family
So it came to my attention today that I haven't updated this in 6 or so months. I have done a few fun things since my last post that included some photography and I will try to get some of it up soon. Recently however, Brandon got a puppy (so I in turn also got a puppy). Her name is Kira and she is half lab half husky. She is a bundle of joy and a terror all at the same time. Her favorite things are chew on boxes, eat ice cubes, chew on socks, chew on bones, and chew on Me. Hope the pics do her cuteness justice.

The family was fortunate this Christmas to spend some time in Puerto Rico. Took a bunch of pictures and here are some of them are.
We also got the opportunity to go diving. Before our trip to Hawaii a couple years ago I bought an underwater housing (aka HEAVY HEAVY duty ziploc) for my point and shoot. Unfortunately it came two days after we left so I never got to use it. So I decided to try it out in Puerto Rico and took it to 60 of more ft. I would be more accurate but my depth gauge wasn't working. The case worked pretty well. Why pretty well? It didn't leak which was awesome, but unfortunately at 20 or so feet the pressure became too high and the bag pressed all the buttons down rendering the camera useless. Here are a few pictures from shallow depths. Enjoy!

Nothing Like a Good Bug Lens
Went out and bought myself present with some Christmas and graduation money. Got a Tamron SP AF 90mm F/2.8 MACRO 1:1 lens for my Nikon, and well I love it. Didn't get much of an opportunity to use it before I left for Puerto Rico but here are a couple pictures I took with it on vacation.
While it isn't the most practical lens for everyday shooting it is a really fun toy to have in your bag. Hope you enjoyed I'll post a couple pics from my vacation in a couple days. In the meantime find me on Flickr: Picture Not Yet Perfect.

Thanksgiving Desert Style
Spent a couple nights in Utah's Canyonlands National Park with my brother and dad. In particular Needles. Was pretty much a photo trip seeing as together we had 5 cameras and took well over a thousand pictures over the three days.
I figured out the problem with a photo blog. You takes lots of photos you like and then you can't post them all. Here are a few that I thought were exceptional from the lot. Enjoy.

I could not get enough of these yucca plants with their little white hairs. After the trip I am contemplating spending some money on a macro lens.

Early November Hike
My dad and I decided to take advantage of some gorgeous weather and go on a hike last Saturday. We hiked Green Mountain which is located right behind the Flatiorns in Boulder. At the summit we found hundreds of ladybugs. I tried looking up the reason for all the bugs, but could only find one scientific reason. One site said that due to the year there was an increase of 15-20% in the population. Didn't really explain why they were all together and only on the top of the mountain however. If anyone knows what they were doing I'd love to know.

Firework Fun
Sam, Shea, and I had some fun with fireworks one night. Originally was going to shoot them in black and white film for my photo class, but the colors were too much fun. The first is a picture of Sam and Shea playing with some sparklers. The second two are of a couple small fountains.
I used some pretty basic photo editing software to crop, increase contrast and saturation, and alter the temperatures to get more dramatic images.
